“Reversion Series”
The Reversion series of paintings explores the nature of time and its effects on all things, both physical and non-physical.
Time itself is treated as an artist—one capable of creating an ethereal and quiet beauty. The slow rusting of a barn door, the gradual spread of moss across damp, weathered wood, the deepened lines on an elderly face shaped by experience, or the patina of a long-standing temple door all serve as enduring testaments to time’s hand.
Hewett is drawn to these manifestations of passage and transformation, finding in them a sense of arrival, stillness, and peace. These time-worn images offer comfort, revealing beauty not in permanence, but in the gentle acceptance of change.
