The Bushido Series was born out of Hewett’s fascination with samurai and the martial history of Japan. Hewett spent four years in the Marine Corps Reserve in the United States and is a long-time practitioner of karate. The Bushido Series uses Kanazawa gold leaf and acrylic to explore themes of Japanese history and culture.
